Meeting of the Yorkshire & the Humber Regional Steering Committee
Location:  Wressle

Editor's Note:  it was indeed an interesting meeting as Branches prepare to debate what is rapidly becoming a leadership crisis, or should I say, a lack of leadership crisis?  A number of tough-minded resolutions were passed at this meeting by your Committee - a committee the NEC has, so far, failed formally to recognise.

Friday 19 November, 2004 @ 1930hr
Public Meeting in Hull with Robert Kilroy-Silk, MEP
Location:  Edwardian Suite Conference Room, Quality Royal Hotel
170, Ferensway, Hull  North Humberside HU1 3UF

Editor's Note:  it was a well attended (approx. 85)  and well disciplined meeting, chaired by David Rust in an excellent venue, where Robert Kilroy-Silk spoke without notes for over an hour and then took questions from the floor.  I was there and I heard no dissenting voices either from the floor or during the extensive networking which took place before and after the meeting.  It seems clear that another meeting, more centrally located, in Yorkshire is a must and we look forward to a repeat performance in Leeds or some other population centre as soon as possible.

Saturday 11 September, 2004 @ 1400hr
Meeting to re-activate a Yorkshire & the Humber Regional Steering Committee (name formally to be agreed)
Location:  The Fox Public House
34 South Baileygate, PONTEFRACT  WF8 2JL

Editor's Note:  a productive meeting by all accounts.  David Rust of Hull Branch is the new Chairman.  Hull Branch 'walked the walk' and delivered UKIP's first City Councillor in June 2004 so, hopefully, we can now look forward to regional administration characterised by the same resolve.

Monday 23 August, 2004 @ 1900hr
Meeting to re-activate the Leeds Branch
Location:  The Lord D'Arcy Public House
618, Harrogate Road (A61), Alwoodley, LEEDS West Yorkshire LS17 8EH

Saturday 07 August, 2004 @1400hr
UKIP Yorkshire & the Humber Region - Meeting of Branch Representatives
Location:  Wressle

Editor's Note:  it was resolved to re-form a regional steering committee for the Yorkshire & the Humber EU Region consisting of one delegate from each active Branch within the Region.  The first meeting should take place in early September (probably on the 11th) at a time and venue to be decided.  There are considered to be about 14 active Branches.  Bradford appears to be the most successful branch in the Region based on the percentage increase in membership.  The need to consolidate and to split some Branches, in the short to medium term, was raised together with the eventual aim of forming one Branch per Westminster Constituency and the need to re-activate Branches which exist but which have fallen into a non-operational state.  The need for fund-raising activities was clearly indicated to be the #1 priority.
